Save your Brakes!

You want your brakes to work when you need them, and regular maintenance is part of keeping this valuable vehicle system operational. Brake Maintenance may include a full system flush and bleed to remove contaminants that could corrode the internal components of your calipers or drums. A visual inspection of your brake lines, hoses, master cylinder and other components also ensures that there are no leaks that could compromise your safety. Once you have new brake pads and shoes on your vehicle, remember that you can extend your brake life with a few simple tips:

  • Coast to a stop light or stop sign when possible. Don’t wait until the last second to brake!
  • Accelerate and brake gradually. This saves both fuel economy and brake wear.
  • If you drive a standard transmission vehicle, down-shift and use the brakes together to slow down, rather than putting your car in neutral
  • Use the proper brake fluid designed for your vehicle. DOT4 brake fluid can handle higher temperatures and pressures than DOT3, so consult your manual or ask a Progressive technician before topping up your brake fluid.
  • Don’t mix different types of brake fluid! This could cause premature corrosion and reduce the braking ability of your vehicle.

What are Tune-Ups and Why do you Need them?

Automotive tune-ups contain a few standard items. Consumables are items that need to be regularly replaced at intervals as part of your scheduled maintenance and include things like your spark plugs, oil and oil filter, air filter, drive belts, distributor cap and rotor (some models), PCV Valve, fuel filters, oxygen sensor and other items. Another important part of your car maintenance is a visual inspection of all hoses, belts, engine and suspension components for wear. It’s advisable to replace components before they fail to avoid engine damage or a dangerous situation on the road. Routine vehicle maintenance as laid out in your owner’s manual is the most cost-effective way to minimize repair costs and keep your vehicle running reliably. Visit Progressive Auto Sales for your maintenance and car check-up today!

The Importance of a Warranty-Approved Oil Change

The number one most important maintenance item when it comes to keeping your engine operating properly is a warranty-approved oil change. An oil change removes the harmful contaminants that have built up from many kilometers of service. Engine oil does more than lubricate your engine: it also collects things like unburned fuel, metal fragments as well as dirt and other contaminants that make it past your air filter and into the combustion chamber. An oil change combined with an express lube where we do a quick lube and grease of suspension components can improve your vehicle’s performance and fuel economy as well. With cheap oil change prices on both labour and parts, Progressive Auto Sales is thinking outside the box!

Tire Installation & Repair

As your vehicle’s only contact with the road, your tires can’t be overlooked! Worn tires can make your vehicle’s economy suffer, cause steering to pull and leads to the risk of a blowout on the road. We offer great prices on tire installation and flat tire repair with a great selection of tires from all of your favourite tire brands. We also offer alignment services to keep your vehicle tracking straight and true on the road.
