Performance and Driveability
The X7 is a recent model, the first version coming out in 2019. It has two engines available: a 4.4-litre V8 in the BMW X7 xDrive50i and a 3.0L inline six-cylinder in the BMW X7 xDrive40i. Both options have an eight-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent AWD BMW xDrive.
The V8 engine delivers 456 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque capacity, going from 0 to 100km/h in about 5 seconds. The 3.0-litre option is less powerful, but it’s still impressive. It has a torque capacity of 330 lb-ft and 335 horsepower. As for acceleration, this option reaches 100km/hm in about 6 seconds. In 2021, the Dark Shadow Edition was released.
Design
As a recent model, it has kept most of its interior and exterior features since its first release. The 2019 version has 21-inch alloy wheels, two-axle air suspension, twin LED headlights, and a large grille. It’s a spacious ride with seven seats and plenty of room for legs, heads, and shoulders.
The Dark Shadow Edition provides heated front seats, a leather-covered dashboard, and acoustic glass. The X7 is the biggest car ever made by BMW. Despite its SUV dimensions, it’s still considered a sport utility vehicle. There are six colours available for this model.
Technology
The X7 is a luxury vehicle. It means BMW has equipped it with the most advanced infotainment system. The 2020 version brings two 12.3-inch digital displays and a head-up display. Drivers can also count on exclusive Live Cockpit Professional, with features like haptic control, touchscreen interfaces, and a multi-modal iDrive Controller. All trims are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety Features
The BMW X7 is surrounded by driving assists and other safety features. Some of them have been available since the first release. These include lane change and lane-keeping assists, Evasion Aid, active cruise control, and front cross-traffic alert, among others.
Two packs are available: the Driving Assistant Professional package and the Parking Assistant Professional package. The first includes an Emergency Call function and an Emergency Stop Assistant. The first version also comes with park sensors and rear view cameras.
The Dark Shadow Edition has iDrive7, SiriusXM 360L, and a 3D surround view. Some features are perfect for driving in busy cities like Sarnia during peak times. It includes city collision mitigation, traffic jam assistance, and pedestrian warning.
